depends what you do. compulsory education finishes at 16, further education (a-levels) finishes at 18 and higher education (degrees) can go on for 3-6 years more after that

a-levels are optional?
we can get out at 16 with parents' permission, which nobody does. cause you can't do anything with a highschool diploma..

Yup.
Though the only people that don't do them are either stupid people, or people wanting to do something that doesn't require pointless qualifications and has hands-on training, such as becoming a car mechanic.

I got my AS results a few days ago - a B and three As (although one of the As is only an AS level, so I won't be doing it at A2). The B is caused by getting two As and a C over three Sociology exams, so I'm going to hopefully re-take the one that I got a C for and try to get it up to a B or an A, resulting in an overall A.
Overall, I'm happy. :hehe:
I'm hoping to do combined Psychology and English Literature at university. Swansea looks rather appealing, but it's very far away, which is being complained about by friends and relatives. There are nearer places, but the courses don't look as good. Sulk sulk sulk. :hmmm:

My version: :-P
1. Preschool (Optional, one year): Social interactions, fine motor skills and separation with parents
2. Kindergarten (One year): The alphabet, basic reading/writing, numbers, introduction to homework.
3. Elementary school / Primary School (Five years): Reading, writing, math (adding, subtraction, multiplication).
4. Middle School / Junior High (Three years): more advanced subjects (history, algebra, geometry, science, literature), basically a prep for high school
5. High School / Secondary school (Four year): advanced subjects (like international studies, trigonometry, calculus), college prep, etc
6. College/University
It's interesting to note that it is possible to test out of High School (Secondary School), the GRE which it's really worth as much as a high school diploma, but it opens the possibility to step up to a community college then to State or University before others of the same age group could by fallowing the 'normal' system. good times

Bleh, I think GED's are foolish... not many colleges accept them in lieu of diplomas, and who would want to go to a community college for 2 years, then try to get into a 4 year college? :miffed:

Speaking of leaving home, I've left home... I'm now living out of a hotel room that's been made into a dorm like arrangement. I have to take a bus to the forest. "Why?" you ask, "Why do you take the bus to the forest?". The answer is simple, because that's where my school is. UCSC: University of California, Santa Cruz.
