So, I'm back from my camping trip to the Adirondacks... it was fun being surrounded by wildlife (i.e. hungry chipmunks and mosquitos), but I'm happy to be back here.  |

i was treking through tick filled undergrowth today, wasnt the loveliest of things
i also saw a hornet up close for thre first time the other day and my god! theyre the evilist looking things youll even see with wings!

Something about needing the protein in blood for the eggs... :unsure: Um... what makes hornets so evil? Granted they look scary, but I wonder what we look like to them (armed with our cans of bug spray and swatters). LOL |

hehe, what a coincidence, I was up camping in the adirondaks that very same for a boy scout summer camp type thing. damn mosquitoes ate me up :/

Hmm.. did you use that bug attractant otherwise known as "Natrapel" (it's a citronella-based "repellant?") too? LOL

thats not a hornet. thats just a wasp thats been taken up close! hornets dont have those antanni and there bodys are a lot bigger without so much defined markings
i saw one hanging upside down above my head a few weeks ago so i took a good look

Mole, what you were looking at was not a hornet. This is a hornet. Note that it's exactly the same image as I posted. For comparision, I offer Wasps and Yellowjackets. |
