yeah...and I'm still in China

I've got no plans these few days so I'm just gonna surf the web a little, watch some TV and relax. I got myself shacked up in a five star hotel, they have some MAD fast broadband.

I stayed in Beijing for a few days, visited the forbidden city, the summer palace, a coupla monastaries by day...and went in for a little night life  :hehe:

Then I got my ass hauled to Xian, visited my cousins...slept in late and went spending big around town at night. Climbed Hua Shan and slept up there, and some other big assed mountain whos name I can't rightly spell...Stayed in a coupla times in the Grand Castle Hotel where I stayed. The five star service was cool...they had some water garden indoors with a live pianist at night, so I requested a few songs and drank a few Royal Coffees (btw: ALL the coffee in this country tastes awful). Then I got my ass hauled to this other five star hotel where I am now, the room is better, but there aren't such great facilities.

not a lot to say really...I'm just here sightseeing...on the point of which, I spotted this sign outside some old WW2 guerrila tunnel network outside Beijing

Heh, I visited Beijing and Xi'an 2 weeks ago, so I guess I couldn't see you.  Tongue  Although, my tour group never got any treatment like that!  Was it because we looked too much like American tourists?  LOL

Ev- cute picture, but I'd much rather go to a restaurant that served "Anti-Chinese food" instead.  Wink

Its not because you look american. Its because package tours are by nature cheap 'n flimsy...like a bad boob job. The nasty comments behind your back, the way drivers seem to be aiming right at you, the way people put out fag ends on your butt...THATS because you look american Tongue

I'm not with a tour group, I got too many people to see, things to do. Though China is a difficult place to get around if you don't know anyone, so if you're just visiting infrequently its still best to go with a package tour. I'm really starting to wish someone in this place knew how to make a coffee.

anti-chinese food huh?...dunno if a place like that would last long here  :alien:

Our tour was 10 people, so it's not like we were a mob of Americans... though we always attracted a mob of peddlers and beggars!  LOL

I'm sure that a non-Chinese restaurant would be good variety in China.... they seem to be lacking every type of food except the same old Chinese dishes.  Tongue

Oh, and the drivers just aim at everyone.  Wink  :hehe:

Except..... not many people own cars, except in Beijing.     I did see a lot of people sitting around on the streets to pass the time, though!  Smiley

Lanair...thats just blatantly not true...I can find a KFC here in Xian by walking 50 meters in just about any direction...theres over 40 of them in Beijing...and about as many McDonalds. Though I don't suppose you went around visiting the fast food chains with your tour group.

As for cars...the roads are jam packed right now. Most are taxis or what I assume to be company cars...even the four lane roads are full.

That is, if you consider those places food.  Wink  A few of us actually wanted to stop at a McDonald's for dinner once (we were desparate for any American meal), but instead we got driven to another hotel.  LOL

I think they are actually...an american saw a stall selling pieces of meat in between two slices of bread at a world convention in crystal palace. He took the idea and modified it, adding the meat in some sesame buns, creating the burger as we know it.

At least, thats what I heard.

Split into a topic of its own. Still in HQ as it isn't spam, however. Enjoy!
