one doozy of a virus here.
the first scan showed around 35 THOUSAND infected files. avg caught and deleted a lot of them, but the fucker copied itself through my windows folder. it's in the drivers section, the handles folder, most of it. and avg wont delete it because it's in a system area. guh. it's like a batch of 200 "cd cracks" for different software programs. fuck if i know where they came from. probably limewire, which i uninstalled just to be safe. im typing from school cuz idk what it's gonna be like when i get home. any help? anybody?

Try using a different Virus scan program that might be able to clean, not just delete, your infected files.  I use McAfee Virus Scan, if you can’t Download and crack it yourself (emule/edonkey/kazaa ect.), I’m sure I ( and/or a few other people) might be able to help you there.
Formatting the hard drive is sort of a last resort thing…

What Smi said - there's a new free AV available, AntiVir which might be better than AVG.
Also make sure Windows is patched and you've got the firewall enabled - or disconnect the computer whilst you try and clean it just to be sure.

Reformatting and re-installing everything could be just as much, or more, of a pain as uninfecting, so try to clean your machine before you start over.

Oh and Safemode is your friend. Smiley
