Post what race you may like to see in the future, and post what kind of benefit using them would have.
I'd go for Gnomes myself (+25% Technology {Cheaper Upgrades/Better Weapons})

Chose "undead" out of fun... 25% of units you kill can be turned into skeletons and added to your army -25% attack and defense. (hey, they're skeletons without the meat to protect them like the living, they don't have the muscles either, so they get the penalties)
and personally, i don't see mages as a separate race... anyone in any race could become one as long as they are smart enough and willing enough... (which rules out orcs and most dwarves anyway...)

Maaya you are so analytical. I would like to see gnomes. Not your standard variety garden gnome, but the little miniature gnomes. Defense would be tough, because they are hard to hit. They also move really fast, kinda like a leprechaun. Offense would have to suffer though, because they are so tiny. hmmm... just a thought.

I picked other but now I'm not so sure that I should have b/c then if there were mages the admins would have to add a new element to the game, and that would but much kewler...

It was a tough choice between trolls and undead, but Gand's idea won me over. ^_^

Really, considering how KoC was based on LoTR; I keep true to that. Under that logic, Trolls or Goblins, or some other race aligned with that would work best. Also, usually Mage would be considered a class, not a race. Now, if they made it so you could pick mage orientated things or warrior orientated things despite what race you picked...

Ents are the tree things, so how could they be like Elves?

Ent stats: +15% Atk (hey, sharp branches ARE deadly.) +15% Def (hard bark) BUT... -25% penalty to Def ONLY if opponent uses axes (get chopped up too easily)

Hmmm... how about they have negative spying instead... for obvious reasons; how can an Ent be stealthy, except in a forest! LOL

It just stands still and acts like a tree, of course.
I chose Undead, as they're in almost all RPG games so why not KoC. Although SS has a point with the goblin idea.

Blah, why does no-one agree with goblins?
If KoC is a LotR themed game (as it claims) then the little buggers would be the most sensible race - ents are generally pacifists, trolls are solitary, gnomes are.... gnomes, and undead are a whole new class too, would they be skeletons, ghosts, zombies, or what? Run through the LotR story in your head, and list the major races - hobbits, humans, elves, dwarves, GOBLINS, more elves, orcs, ents, more humans, lots of orcs and humans and elves, then more hobbits. So, um. Hobbits too. maybe with a 25% spy bonus, a +10% defense, and a -10% attack? And Goblins with their 20% attack and 10% spying.
