Anyone here plays chess?
Apart from MythoS, my commander and friend in real life, who I met in a chess tournament.
I play chess many years now, not just as a hobby, I have taken it seriously, going all around Greece, or even abroad to participate in chess tournaments..........
Anyone else who also plays chess for something more than just fun?

I think our first chess tournament is coming soon. I'll be attending!!... as an observer Sad I've forgotten a lot of the strategies in chess. Last time I played was when I was 10 years old (and I kicked ass back then too  Tongue ). I might learn again.

I'm a pretty good player although I don't play much.  A fun variation of chess is Nightmare Chess.  I'm sure few, if any, have played it, but it is a normal chess game with a card game variation.  It takes strategy to a whole new level.

I used to play chess a lot.  Played in a few tourrnaments, got a few trophies, but then I just fell out of it.  Was a little busy and none my friends would ever play me because.  And I absolutely HATE playing agaiinst computers.  I don't know exactly why.

So I guess I played chess pretty seriously a few years ago, but nothing professional.

It is hard to find a good opponent since few play chess seriously and so once you become the best in a region, only computers are challenging, but computers are predictable and without personality.

in accordance to that, i was refering to our regional championships. our school has some of the best chess players in the region. a junior, a senior, another senior, another junior, and a freshman ( Shocked ) I think they beat the crap outta almost everyone at the last regional conference... im chess envy  :hehe:  :sheep:

If you play with a computer long enough, you forget how human players (who make stupid or unexpected moves) act.  Happened to me; I played vs. my comp sooo many times, any other styles of play by opponents knocked me totally off balance. Sad

I used to play chess a lot to.  but no body ever wanted to play with me.  So i eventualy fell out of it and forgot all of my skills.  never felt like entering any turnaments.  proboly wasn't good enough anyways.  I played it for fun not to win.
