Due to a number of unsolvable problems (all of which concern my step-father), I am now homeless.

Therefore I am liable to only have sporadic access, so may not be around for a while.

As they say, "In case I don't see you again, have a good life".

Thank you all for your support.  The problem is now finding somewhere to rent, which is nigh impossible in this area.  Otherwise I'm going to be stuck in a hostel somewhere.  I'm on the council list for a house, but there's a two or three years waiting list.

And my mother reckons the marriage is now over because of the issue, and since they both own the house I haven't a clue what's going to happen.  All the money from the sale of the previous house has gone into the current one, and it's in the middle of an extension at the moment, not the best sales condition.

God, I can't even think straight.  Everyone at work (where I get paid an utter pittance) says don't worry about it, but how the hell can they expect me not to?!  And the biggest irony of all is that my grandfather's a millionaire, quite literally, and he lives on apple sandwiches and never remembers anyone's birthday.

I wish it were that simple.  He's an utter miser; he makes Ebenezer look like Bob Geldof.  He lives in a bungalow that's only held together by the mildew on the walls, and spends 18 hours a day on the 'net playing the various stock markets.  He won't let me stay with him, as there are no jobs down there, which is a fair point, and he doesn't approve of rented accomodation as it's 'money down the drain'.  The only long-term chance I have is that he'll match whatever I can raise, which is currently 40K at the absolute maximum.

The current plan is to move into a rented room around here, assuming I can get one that is, and then job-hop (a grave risk when in rented) until I can get a decent mortgage offer.  And also save every penny like there's no tomorrow.  To that end, if anybody knows anyone who'd like a website made / redeveloped, then if you could put them in contact with me I'd be eternally grateful.

Update: I've got over the mad panic phase now, but that doesn't help too much.

I may be able to prolong my stay at home for a short while, it depends upon what my grandfather has to say about it when I see him on Sunday.

Job-wise, I'm temping at the moment, with another month and a bit left to run.  So I'll soon need to start looking for another one of those to boot.

I hope stuff settles down and goes your way a bit more soon. Things having been going great for me though not nearly the same level as what you're dealing with. Does your grandfather like the military? Maybe even your talking about that could change his mind a bit/less miserly etc?

He used to work for the atomic weapons division, so that's a definite yes.  A good idea though.  Smiley
