Sorry for the randomness, but I found this rather amusing. I was searching on Google Images for ... well, images, of a Book of Shadows (the proper name for the Wiccan spellbook). The first page was much as expected; arcane-looking books adorned with pentacles. On the second page, I found a photo of a compendium.
On CD-ROM. :hehe:
(We need a smiley on a broomstick.)
Actually, I was just about to go on a Photoshopping spree... :devil:

And, of course there are books of shadows on CD ROMs. What are you, a Giles-type person? :ph34r: Actually, it's missing one of the main points of the books - they're supposed to be written by the Wiccan / witch / warlock / magical practitioner in question. It's sort of a spell diary, keeping track of which spells did what, and the various factors that could have influenced it, so that the practitioner can learn what works for them and what doesn't. (According to them, anyway.) So obviously, a CD isn't a true Book. And Mole: it's a good deal more interesting (and a lot friendlier) than most of the religions out there. Not that it's eschatologically correct, mind you. For example, their 'commandment' (called the Rede) reads "An it harm none, do what thou wilt." ['An' is an archaic word for 'if'] - so essentially, it means 'live and do as you like, but only if that won't harm anyone'. |

It is if you add a new file to it, titled with the date and the spell casted, each time you do a new spell until the CD is full. Or if it contains some sort of log program that contains such a first-user-written diary.

It'd have to be a CD-RW, and it'd be a bit cumbersome to lug a laptop around with you every full moon (never mind the transport issues - there are few places to perch a laptop on a broomstick). Also you'd look a bit out of place at the coven. (Which is slightly ironic, really - most people get odd looks for using books when everyone else is on their respective computers.)
