Yes. I read it over last summer for English and it was bearable. If you can get past the 'old-style' diction, you'll be fine. its actually not that terrible but as I said before it hasn't really endeared itself to me. not a bad plot though Speaking of which, one "old style" English book i actually enjoyed was Wuthering Heights, that was pretty cool

I think we should switch to the metric system...
Why do we call it the English system when England doesn't even use it?

no i live in the UK, so in school and doing mechanics or what have you outside in industry, everyone uses mm, cm... but in everyday life ask someone how far away something is and theyll tell you in miles or yards, ask how heavey they are and youll get an answer in stone and pounds, then hieghts in feet and inches...... wierd isnt it?

never heard of stone, but yea that is weird. the metric system rocks and all but its like another language, you are just translating it into what you know and are familiar with. you could say 40 meters, and i wouldn't have a good estimate on how far that is. kinda like with time, i hate military time because all i do is convert it to what i already know..

I hate having to worry about if it’s AM or PM, but in “military time” (universal time) I don’t have a good feel of what time it is…17:00…just by looking at it I can’t tell it’s 5:00, but I automatically know it’s PM… I don’t work with time enough to become familiar with it.
