hmm having dropped any class involving literature now, the last 2 books i was forced to read and write a piece of coursework for were, Tess of the Durbeyvilles and A Kestral for a Knave. to date ive read neither, i tuned out on the audiobook of tess' and managed to watch the film Kes for the other. but i did manage to do the essays

Tess of the D'Urbervilles was quite possibly the worst book i've ever read. I literally did burn it, especially since i picked it up for a buck. Now i'm reading the Scarlet Letter in class, which really isn't indearing itself to me

aye and they made me go sit on a concrete bench in the summer sun on a humid day (with hayfever) and listen to the audio version and i was told off by a passing teacher for not having my book open! how bloody stupid would it be to read AND listen to a book?!!? idiots

wow that sux. Thomas Hardy should've been banned from writing books, to date the only two good summer reading books i've read are The Power of One and The Killer Angles

Yes. I read it over last summer for English and it was bearable. If you can get past the 'old-style' diction, you'll be fine.
