Title: attacking non orcs
Post by: slayerselune on October 05, 2003, 11:44:32 AM
Ok, so I know in general that we can't just go attacking non orcs, and that we can retaliate to attacks from non orcs, but is a non orc spying on you considered an act of aggression enough to warrant an attack?   <_<   thanks

Of course it is. Trying to spy u means he either intended to attack you or to sab you. So go on and retaliate.

you sure bout that? i never retaliate against non orcs that try to spy me, i do against them who tried to sab me tho, as they intended to harm me

Attacking someone who failed to spy you is rough, and I wont condone you doing it to non-Orcs.

Attacking someone who failed a Sabotage run is fair game.

That's what I was unsure about.  Thanks everyone, esp. Auron.  I had misgivings mainly due to the fact that 2 people spied (and were caught) at almost the same time 1 orc 1 human with no visible relation--I was speculating that they were trying to retaliate against me farming a couple of orcs.   At the time they spied, I had virtually no money.  Any rate, I'll maintain the high ground and not attack until I catch them trying to sab (lotsa luck there as I think I'm unsabbable) or trying to attack outright.

I get the urge to run down someone completely when they attack or try to sab me. Pisses me off, especially since I have no other way to let go of 1,021 turns...

Post by: smi256 on October 05, 2003, 11:18:18 PM
your mad because you have so many turns, ns?  If someone tryies and fails, I don't really care, but if they kill something, or do a bit of damage to my equipment, then it's time to get a little bit back to fix what was broken.  If they try and sabb me, then they get sabb'd a bit... :D and if I can, I take a little money just because

There have been a few guys who've been farming my officers on a regular basis. They've now asked me to come to their aid by sabbing the attackers, but the attackers aren't necessarily Orcs. I'm haven't actually been accepted into the alliance as yet, but I am still intending to operate under the rules. I understand that it's ok for me to attack non-orcs who attack me, but what if they attack my officers?? Where does the line stand?

I'd say that you have a right to defend your officers (hopefully none of those you're defending are orcs).  Just attack the offender a little and send a messagetelling him to back off your officers.  ;)

Thanx Lord Lanair. I won't have Orcs as Officers. Maybe I'll just sab a weapon or two and issue a warning to them. Should serve the purpose.

that my commander would come to my aid...  :paranoid:

and protect me...   :)

Yes dirac honey, if any mean ol' bad guys started farming you they'd have to face my vengeful wrath (within TGA limits of course) ;)

In other words, the offender will become "neutered" (I like that term for referring to the disappearance of weapons from an armoury).

Having orcs as officers or not does not depend on you.
Tga has no problem with this as long as you do not post their link on the forum and you do not ask a favour from fellow TGA members to help your orc officer.

That's a relief.  I have one officer, non-orc, but he's got several officers, and I was worried that their race would affect my membership into TGA.  Thanks for clearing that up.

Wouldn't you know it...only a few days after I posted that, somebody decided to make a liar out of me and signed up under me as an Orc. I still don't know who it is, but I sent them a message strongly advising they change their race if they wish to have any kind of future in this Age.

Nicely put.  I wish people would randomly sign up under me, even if they were orcs (well... maybe that's a littile too much).   LOL

It's the whole concept of the alliance, to rid the world of all vile and filthy existance of orcs.

Well, rid ourselves of them except for the domesticated farm orcs  LOL
Can't get rid of them now can we?

Not true.  Its being proven that cooked Orcs have a taste equal to those of cooked Dwarfs.

Frankly, im getting tired of answering this one..

**Standardised answer to the 'Why Orcs' question**

TGA's hate of Orcs is a role playing element. The very name of this Alliance refers to the Great Alliance of Elves and Men against the Orcs of Mordor in LotR.

LOL-i think that if they have the intent of doin any harm that they should be persecuted-- Intent is the same as action :D

Title: attacking non orcs
Post by: bofor on October 19, 2003, 02:01:07 PM
The problem is you can spy with no intent to attack. Sometimes I just recognize a name form age one or the Beta and check (spy) just to see how the person is doing.

Title: attacking non orcs
Post by: slayerselune on October 19, 2003, 10:28:03 PM
ahh, but there's the rub.  Do you wait until you have many $$ worth of damage to repair to say, "yep that guy had intent."  :paranoid:

Title: attacking non orcs
Post by: Lord Lanair on October 19, 2003, 11:23:12 PM
If someone unsucessfully tries to spy on you, why bother retaliating?  You can check to see if he has a lot of gold, then start farming him, but otherwise, who cares?  LOL

Title: attacking non orcs
Post by: slayerselune on October 20, 2003, 01:20:13 AM
well sure, that's a convenient way to find farms :D !  I'm always amused when someone is unsuccessful in spying, we get to summarily dispose of his spies.  Of course, it does workthe other way too...sigh

Title: attacking non orcs
Post by: sirjohn13 on October 20, 2003, 06:05:32 PM
Personally, I do not even consider retaliating against guys who steal my gold. I just keep them in mind as farms, those who can be good ones. Same for those who fail to recon me. But there was a guy who had failed to recon me twice and also appeared in the intel log of 3 of my officers. In this case I retaliated and sabbed some of his weapons.

You've got a point, ikea makes some great dwarf shelving units!  All in good fun my dwarvish friend.  The only animosity here is towards orcs.

Title: attacking non orcs
Post by: bofor on October 24, 2003, 06:01:40 PM
Don't know if this belongs on this thread but it does invole attacking people. In the past few days i've been attacked a number of times by a player with only 1 or 2 men in their army. Sometimes this is followed immediatly by an attack from a much stronger player. Is this becoming a common tactic for not so honorable players.?

Title: attacking non orcs
Post by: slayerselune on October 24, 2003, 08:26:22 PM
oh indeed.  Especially if you cannot be sabbed.  you'll get several little attacks that can weaken your equip (yeah you tell me how 5 guys can get past my citadel and then do 5 damage to each of my dragonskins!?!)  It's an annoying practice that a particular orc I now like to farm employs.  I refused to stop attacking him after he requested/begged me not to hit him...Me stop?  Never!!! Death to orcs!!! Especially annoying ones!!!

Title: attacking non orcs

Once you get into the top 1000 ranking you will definitely feel the feeler accounts...  Do you guys declare blatent cheating non-orcs free game too?  I just read on GUA on how some guy has like 40 accounts LOL all with the same names.  I checked into it, it looks like most of them are just there as farms for the big account and to boost the big accounts number of soldiers.  I think he should be fair game to all races, after all, he's giving us a bad name!

I read in the Gold Per Attack topic that Everous attacked R4BBIT who is a dwarf, so are there specially occasions when we can attack non orcs?
eg. the server goes down, you finallly get on, everyone around has loads of gold and low defences....you are a fool not to attack right? It's like turning your back on a golden opportunity.
Don't get me wrong since applying for the TGA I've been hitting orcs only, not doing too bad either, but I wanna make it clear when the situation occurs, thats why I keep asking about stuff like this.

Title: attacking non orcs
Post by: slayerselune on October 28, 2003, 10:47:02 AM
R4bbit must have originally attacked everous.  If non-orc attacks 1st, then retaliation is ok.

Don’t forget war factor.  If the person is in liege with orc armies (i.e. clan/alliance) and we're at war.  or even personal wars, like slayerselune said.

Oh, great city.  I was going to say, there sure have been a lot more new members in TGA as of late...

Post by: bofor on October 31, 2003, 02:03:49 PM
Just think where you could take that. You could find someone you wanted to farm. Send them nasty messages saying you were going to attack them and goad them into attacking you first. Sounds fun but doesn't sound honorable.
