I do a lot of walking (about 30 miles a week), and have come to the conclusion that a portable music player might be a worthwhile investment. But the iPod is far too expensive and overhyped, and I'd rather not join The Cult of the White Cord if I can help it. I've skimmed over the other options, namely Walkmans, CD players (and miniCD players), MiniDiscs, and MP3 players, but they all seem to have their pros and cons, and as each site is trying to sell their respective goods I can't get an unbiased opinion from them. Zen Touch! It is made by Creative, which is also experienced in computer sound cards. They may seem a little big and heavy, but they are not easily busted, and have a battery life of 24 hours. I read a story of some guy who kicked this player off of his bike, made it fly through the air, and crashed into the asphault. It left a "scar" on the corner of the player, but worked perfectly fine. If you prefer small, but still high quality and durable, then check out the other Zen's. I love the Zen, I can drop it all I want without worry, I can stick it in my pocket and mow the lawn or go for a bike ride without worry, and the sound quality is great. The scroll pad is not as sensitive and some people say, you just have to get used to it. Also, it doesn't hijack your computer like the iPod. iTunes, iMail, i Wanna kill myself... (HAHA Tom...)
