Title: "Gand's Art Thread!"
Post by: GandalfTheOld on February 25, 2004, 05:51:50 PM
To make it realistic, or non-realistic?
Sci-fi'ish or still anatomically correct?
Proportions right, or make one part of the body huge and the other small?

Just some things that came up earlier during Calc II when I couldn't get myself to concentrate...
I started drawing this girl... with short skirt and long sleeves, holding a gun straight ahead...
Somehow ended up with a pose that makes her look like she just rolled in and took aim to shoot. (haven't managed to get the head drawn in yet at the time of this typing)  She has left leg bent close to her body to soften the landing, with her right arm held out backwards to balance and to catch herself when she goes backwards from the ricochet.

Problem is, she's right now holding the gun left-handed, which I suppose isn't all that of a big deal, but when I think of a girl, holding a gun (and a .14mm one at that) with just one arm, I started wondering if a school-age girl like that could actually hold one and shoot decently with a pose like it...

Maybe its because I'm not a left-handed person... (I gotta try scanning the drawing in when I have time to show what I really mean... even if the head's not done.  its got bunch of calc stuff scribbled all around XD)

do the realistics really matter? aslong as its 'asthetically pleasing' and a nice pic people will like it just about anything it is

*agrees with mole*

as long as it looks good  you dont think about whether she is capable of such things.

hmmm....
alrighty. i'll keep my head off the realistic issue in drawings ;)

now the problem is how to draw the head without fudging it up...
mebbe i shouldn't have drawn the whole body rather small...

yeah heads a annoying to draw.  make a copy  of the picture and attmept to draw the head on the copy so you dont totally screw it up.

heh.

i'll try, but it sucks when there's only 1 comp in the entire lab (altho there are multiple comp labs in the campus) that has a scanner, and when that comp is being used by someone that doesn't need a scanner.

if she doesn't get off the comp, it'll have to wait till i get back home tonight...

and

oh, and there's junk around the drawings just as a kind of contrast in size... (the drawings are only like 6cm at its longest...)

Might as well sack the original purpose and convert it into Gand's Art Thread !!!!

newest addition from today's doodling:
Left side started fine, and then the angle got blooped.
Right side also started fine, and then the whole body proportion to the head got messed up ending with a head that looks small... then again I guess that's kinda how basketball players are.

Oh, and I might add:
I used school's scanner (yay!), and since I used lined loose-leaf paper, I touched up/erased the lines and smudges off the drawing.

i know that artpad site...
but the tutorials are only helpful if you're going to use Photoshop heavily, and most importantly, to draw pictures from scratch.  Not when you're scanning in drawings and for the most part putting minor touch-ups and then putting it up for all to see.

what i mean is, it won't help me when i get back to my home comp that has the cruddy scanner that doesn't have photoshop.

i don't exactly have time to sit down, get comfortable, and work in detail carefully with photoshop at campus...

which means i probably won't be making any more uploads until monday...

the blood? my eyes were instead fixed on the smile that girl has...
it looks like it's saying it wants more of what she HAS been putting into her mouth...

Whoot, someone else who knows Elfwood!  Pleased to meet you!  :D

I collect tutorials, mostly about computer art, but although I'm a useless freehard artist (at the moment - I'm going to work on it soon) I've got a large number of drawing ones as well (including Anime).  I'll have a dig around and see if I can find out where some of the came from and post the URLs here.

probably you're right.
i'm just recalling off the top of my head what it said in japanese...
Shinji doesn't say "I" in japanese.
and sounds better without an "I", imo, when you're repeating it so many times...

and a horrific eye-catching image to go along with... (something about mole's post about "really catch your parent's attention", too...)
