I thought it was a great game (a bit short, but it was meant to be multi-player), and I'd like to hear someone else's opinion. I downloaded a few mods for it, which were really cool, but now the game's got a bit boring. Give me your thoughts...

I can also count on one finger the number of games I think will live up to the hype... although I can count upto three on one finger, which is just as well, because there are three games I'm talking about: Unreal Tournament 2003, Deus Ex 2 and STALKER: Oblivion Lost. UT2003 being worthy of what it aimed for, DX2 and STALKER being games which I think will succeed. I'm also tentatively confident that Half-Life 2 might do well, although this hinges on one key point which I cannot know the answer to, but logic sways in favour of it being true, so I suppose HL2 can be added to that list.
Anyway, back to Neverwinter Nights... never played it, seen some screenshots though, and it looks interesting. I will get it at some stage. Mainly so I can help where I can with The Dune Mod, but I'll also play the main game as it'd be a waste not to. Oh yes, mods, I just mentioned one of those... the best one of those, being a Dune modification of the engine which is going to be really great... well it better be or I'm planning to send a swarm of killer guinea pigs to nibble Auron to death, because he's doing most of the work for it. At least... I think the ruleset defaults to Hardcore (Which is best but hard to start on because everything works PROPERLY) if it doesnt, you just suck. Worst class for a Newb is a Cleric (Im one so we wont be needing another anyways) - the first spells you get suck majorly and you cant stand up in a fight. after playing it for a while, i can say its a decent game...but nowhere near top of the market that it was hyped up to be...the graphics are below standard, combat system, while good is neither exciting nor innovative...maybe its my lack of roleplaying finesse but while others seem to see a halfelven bards surveying the battlements of war...all i see is a low poly model walking up and down low poly brown painted blocks... the main selling point IMO would be the D&D connection...but since i'm not into D&D i can't say that did much for me...maybe its the road they were looking for but the ammount of gameplay and potential fun that was sacrificed to stick closely to the new ruleset was very disappointing to me... don't let me get you down...the multiplayer is ingenious, nice modding community (if a little too transfixed on nude aribeths :sheep: ) and if you're into D&D this is a must buy...but personally, i wish i'd spent my money on something a little less "loyal" and just a touch more fun... thats about it...no doubt auron will have some choice four lettered words to say about this Title: Neverwinter Nights Post by: SS on May 21, 2003, 05:07:41 PM Quote all i see is a low poly model walking up and down low poly brown painted blocks...
