ASCII is (the) American Standardised Code (for) Information Interchange

Or to put it another way: Text

Basically, all the symbols that make up a font face have ASCII codes.
The ASCII for 'A' is 065, 'a' is 097, '©' is 169, 'ö' is 264, and so on.

HTML and text files are ASCII.

Binary is just a series of 1s or 0s - if you open it in a text editor, you will get random characters because it is not in ASCII format.

Image files are binary.

No idea if that helps or just confuses you further?
