Title: SATs Post by: underruler on February 01, 2005, 05:39:07 AM I'm angry at the collegeboard. Anyway, anybody care to share their scores?

Title: SATs Post by: ns33 on February 02, 2005, 03:56:46 AM Quote I'm angry at the collegeboard. Anyway, anybody care to share their scores? angry at what? Title: SATs Post by: Lord Lanair on February 02, 2005, 04:40:49 AM The fact that collegeboard exists? The best part about SAT's though, is that I don't need to take them again!!! hehehehe... oh wait, you still do. :P
I got like a 1440 on the SAT's, but personally I see no value in them. The SAT is just a test, and no test can accurately judge your intellect, plus people with good test-taking skills and 0 intelligence can get 1600's. ;) Title: SATs Post by: evilknight on February 03, 2005, 03:43:41 AM we have to take a new SAT over here in north carolina.
i believe it involves an essay portion. now, instead of the best possible score being 1600, it will be 2400. meh, just a larger margine to mess up by as far as im concerned. : P Title: SATs Post by: Lord Lanair on February 03, 2005, 04:50:15 AM Ah, but if you get a 1400, tell people it was with the old test. LOL
Title: SATs Post by: underruler on February 03, 2005, 06:07:30 AM Quote angry at what? Well, first of all it exists, but gah it won't let me register online. Title: SATs Post by: ns33 on February 03, 2005, 10:25:42 PM You still haven't taken the SAT? o_O
Title: SATs Post by: mole on February 03, 2005, 10:33:29 PM whats SAT's? we have those but theyre a school related thing we have to take in yr 3, 6 and 9
Title: SATs Post by: SS on February 04, 2005, 02:35:12 PM mole, I think in the US, SATs are much more like GCSEs are here.
Title: SATs Post by: underruler on February 05, 2005, 07:52:02 AM Quote You still haven't taken the SAT? o_O Well, I'm only a junior dear. I'm taking it in March, then again in the fall semester. I have taken the PSAT, but I think I have a practice SAT on Feb. 12th or something. Title: SATs Post by: Lord Lanair on February 05, 2005, 08:37:31 AM How many times are you taking the stupid test? LOL
Title: SATs Post by: matt_the_shark on February 05, 2005, 06:34:17 PM I'd like to take the SAT and the ACT twice each. That way I can make sure that I get a good score on both of them.
Title: SATs Post by: underruler on February 05, 2005, 07:43:14 PM Do you know the deadline to register for the ACT?
Title: SATs Post by: Guest on February 05, 2005, 08:10:36 PM SATs are tests you take before you apply to colleges(uni)
What you described sounds like MEAP(Michigan educational Assemsment proggy) I dunno if other states have em(or what they're called) but we take them every few years in gradeschool. Title: SATs Post by: mole on February 05, 2005, 08:33:03 PM theres is a distinction between colleges and uni here do you not have both?
quite liked the fact that A-Levels (higher education which is what im doing now) is around the same level as a degree in the USA Title: SATs Post by: Lord Lanair on February 06, 2005, 03:01:00 AM Colleges only have undergraduates here, while universities also have graduate students. ;)
Title: SATs Post by: underruler on February 06, 2005, 03:20:16 AM OMG that's the difference? I didn't know that.
Title: SATs Post by: Galmort on February 06, 2005, 03:21:55 AM sometimes its good to be young....sometimes
Title: SATs Post by: Perdition on February 06, 2005, 04:20:32 AM yeah there is a diff. But when i say "college" I mean "uni" and when I say "community college" I mean "reg college".
Title: SATs Post by: underruler on February 06, 2005, 08:58:34 PM community college = JC
Title: SATs Post by: Lord Lanair on February 07, 2005, 05:05:23 AM What's JC? To me, a community college is an excuse to go to more high school. :)
Title: SATs Post by: SS on February 08, 2005, 06:57:40 PM Okay, here's how things are in the UK:
Age: 5-11 Place: Primary school. Test: "The 11+" English & Maths. Taken in final year (year 6). (to get into grammar/specialist Secondary schools.) Age: 11-16 Place: Secondary school. Main Test: GCSEs. Usually 9 taken, sometimes more. Taken in 5th year (year 11). Determines if you can do A-Levels, and most places want a pass in English & Maths to give you a job. Other Test: SATs. English, Maths & Science. Taken in 3rd year (year 9), I think. Relatively unimportant. Age: 16-18 Place: Sixth form. (either at a Secondary school, or at a college) Test: A-Levels. Usually 3, occasionally 2 or 4. Except they've now changed it so you do a year of half a dozen 'AS' levels, then specialise in a few for the second year. Or some shit like that. Eitherway, determines which universities will accept you, and to a minor extent what jobs you can get. Age: 18+ Place: University Tests: Diploma, Degree, or Postgrad stuff. Diploma = HND ~ half a degree Degree = BSc or BA Postgrad = PhD, MSc, MA, etc. There's also GNVQs and other assorted stuff that you can do at uni/college, but I don't really know how that works. Does that make sense to everyone? :miffed: Title: SATs Post by: mole on February 08, 2005, 08:29:33 PM its commonly 4 AS levels but you can do 1-5 then you may drop subjects if you want after the first year
Title: SATs Post by: underruler on February 09, 2005, 03:44:42 AM I'm guessing your college isn't really like our college... or is it?
Title: SATs Post by: mole on February 09, 2005, 07:39:02 PM college is like an inter-rim stage between secondary school and uni ussually an option for the not so acedemic
