Title: Your Proof
Post by: Galmort on January 25, 2005, 11:44:49 PM
I'm living with a true geek. He plays DnD, ddr and warhammer. he just got a job at mcdonalds too. He has 2 desktops running on a long table, and a laptop running on a side table which is what he uses for school. There is a stack of about 6 computer cases in his room next to bookshelf with all his video games and 12 hardrives currently not being used. There is a tv in here with a gamecube...he used to have an xbox and a ps2 also but both their owners took them back...

so thats a pretty geeky guy...but he's got a girl and thats more than i can say...how bout you "geeks"?

I'm not a geek... even though almost all my spare time is spent playing computer games, I avoid most social interaction not on the internet, and the functioning of my computer (or lack of it) most affects my mood.  :paranoid:

Hey- I'm normal, though!  :D

What does having a job at McDonalds have to do with being a geek? :hmmm:

Nope - seeing as how you'd have to talk to other people to serve them, and face-to-face communication is practically forbidden to nerds. :P

It's easy:

Someone who is obsessed with something (d&d, star wars, computers, etc) and generally only interacts within a relatively small group of friends is probably a geek.

Someone who is overly-obsessed with something, to the extent of not having friends or social interaction is probably a nerd.

Dorks are just... dorks. It's an insult.

Then there's dweebs, which are like dorky half-nerd/geek wannabees.

There's also anoraks - which are effectively nerds at the opposite end of the social interaction scale: they are not only obsessed with something, they are also obsessed with telling people about it.

There are a few more, but I can't remember right now.

One of these days I'll get round to putting all this into a website, with one of those quiz things to find out which one you are.

:alien:

Being a dork is not an insult.  It's simply connotated as unique (<-----)
