The tour de france began today, and Lance Armstrong's going for his sixth consecutive championship, which is more than any biker has ever won.  What do you guys think? do any of you even follow this? :P

I just remember if they won.  How many Championships have other people won?

i believe Indurain and Merckx and mebbe some other guy won 5...

but i think Ullrich may make it hard for Armstrong... i like the way he prepares for the tour :) just beer and be fat the whole year and start training at the last moment and still compete for the first places :cool:
too bad he's german, but otherwise i'd root for him

I think Armstrong will win it solely on the fact that the man has only got 1 ball that makes him aerodynamic yes?

No that makes him lopsided.

hmmm well there's allways some rivalry between the dutch and the germans... and then there's more hate from the dutch towards the germans then vice versa :) must be a war thing and all they do is shout and invade our beaches to dig holes everywhere... (sumthing like the US vs. the french)

and the one ball thing, it actually does help him being that good, cause because of it he can get away with taking hormones (he has to take them) where others aren't allowed to take them... nobody ever mentions that <_<  

Wasn't he addicted to drugs before...? or he had some kind of affair...

The downside of this is, of course, he only has one ball.  LOL  

He's been accused of using many times, every time he's come out clean.

as i said he hasn't done anything illegal as he is allowed to take hormones... but off course you can vary the doses a bit, it clearly is an advantage he has above others

also i think he could become dangerous, check our history books for 1 balled men :blink:

the team time trials are today, armstrong is expected to get the yellow jersey today (the jersey the current leader wears).  right now he's 18 seconds behind the leader, not that it matters this early in the race.

Armstrong may lose the lead that he just gained during the flat stages.  These are better sections for the sprinters, but he will catch up during the mountain stages.  He is a machine.  He was winning the Tour before he lost a nut, and he will keep doing so.  five of his team are in the top seven.  I think that says alot for the training that they do and has a little less to do with some purported extra hormone.  People just get upset when someone keeps beating them over and over again.  There were even some people on the tour that wanted to have a testicle removed for the "advantage".  I say they should go for it, and see what there wife thinks.  A lack of testosterone will cause breasts to start forming.

How many more races do you think he'll do before he's either won too many times or decides to retire?  :miffed:  

an other thing Armstrong has as an advantage is that he and his team focus on the tour the france and the tour only, he hardly ever shows his face on other matches, he prepares the whole year on the tour, where others have to appear in a lot of other courses...

and i don't think he won a tour before he had cancer?

i think the tour the france is kinda boring to watch at
plus i think Armstrong is a good option for winning

Cycling is even more boring to watch than golf.  LOL

And this is in the games section because... cycling is a game.... sport... thing (and it doesn't matter where things get posted either).   :D  

If Armstrong does come out ahead once again this year, he probably won't win next time...

well, i'm finishing up watching today's section of the race, Richard Verenque (spelled right?) probably got it, and he's most likely secured victory in the King of the Mountains competition in the race (points are awarded to people who are the first to reach the top of climbs in the Tour de France)  Armstrong is finishing in the main group today, but the tour enters the Pyrinees ( i dunno how the hell you spell that either...the mountains on the southern border of france between it and spain). and later in the tour the he expects to gain even more time in the Alps.  :cool:

I'm sorry about the DP, but after 2 days of armstrong riding like that, i had to post something :D  look at him, he's over 6 minutes ahead of jan ullrich now.  t-mobile might even switch team leaders because another teammate is a couple minutes ahead.  if armstrong keeps this up, he'll have no problem getting #6 :D

20 stages, 23 days.  i believe stage 14 was today
