This is a cool maffia game (30's style, text based) u start as a random criminal and u gotta make ur own empire, ive just started playing and i like it, a cool thing about killing people is that sum1 is only allowed 1 account and if u kill the person he can't create a new one  :)
also we could start our own 'family' or something (its like a clan, with a 'don' and all, i'm not in one yet)

not too bad, ow and the game kinda sux if ur just starting off (you get cought by the cops a lot) but later on, when u can join a family and such it'll get better.
if u have any questions (about most profitable booze routes and other things u gotta know) ask me here or mssg me in game, i think i should be able to answer all ur questions :)

well i'm in a family allready, and most (i think all) families only accept members if they're ranked assassin+, which would take u a while... also there's a limited number of families so you can't start your own (unless u free a spot by killing a family and buy the new spot, which will give you war)
the city doesn't really matter, as you can travel between different cities (if you have a plain you can go everywhere, otherwise you'll have to stay in the US and u can travel less frequent)
also the big difference between KoC and this game is that wars actually do matter, as if you get killed, you're just out of the game and you'll have to start all over again, so you gotta watch out more with who you insult (and you got to know the right people so you'll have protection) also people don't start a war just for nothing in this game...

and about the start, i suggest you'd buy a tommygun with the money i sent you, and just do crimes and make your rank go up, it'll be hard in the beginning but you'll like it afterwards...

hehe if u want to kill a guy that just started like you, i'd need 1500 bullets i think, which would cost me around 1,2 million :P if i'd want to kill a godfather i'd need around 30.000 bullets :huh: also i'd be dead because of the backfire he'd give me :ph34r:  

yeah, but right now ive just got a tommy gun and 2 bullets. and it gives me a 6% success chance at extorting a kindergardener for their money. man that's sad. i mean, if a guy walked up to me with a gun and even had a single bullet in it.....damn, these kids must be pretty badass

U GOT BULLETS!?!?! u must've been sooooo lucky you saw them... i only saw them like 10 times in the time i played this game :( i'll get out of NY and baltimore (the most  busy cities because of the booze route between them) and to italy and i'll hope to buy a few thousand bullets soonish...
but i don't think you should buy bullets right now, i don't even really need them yet, just save for a Douglas DC-3 and in the meanwhile improve your rank and at some point start doing booze runs, that's the way you make money, you shouldn't even think about killing people yet, bullets are useless when you just started

well putting it in the bank will only get u 3500 in a whole day, which isn't really worth it, i think the best idea is to buy a tommygun with it...

also after that when you've got some money to buy booze, you should travel to baltimore, buy whiskey there, travel to new york, sell the whiskey, buy amaretto there and travel back to baltimore
just continue doing that until you've got your million (and do you crimes/carjacking in the meanwhile of course)

evil your %'s will go up with your rank (experience) which means just do a lot of crimes, steal a lot of cars, and travel a lot... my %'s are all over 90% for the extorting and robbing the hot dog stands allmost allways

i got caught by the cops trying to steal a car, and was playing pacman in jail LOL

i'm an assassin and a long long way from local chief (at 0,02% every succesfull crime), but hey i have like 80 cars :cool: gonna crush 'em all tomorrow tho, they give 12 bullets each, so keep the cheep cars (from 1000 to 5000 worth) and sell the rest... oh and keep all the caddy's and roll's royces under 25%, they are suitable to do organized crimes with later on, if u got a higher rank (if u do an OC now, it'll cost you more then you'll win...)

hehe i was lucky getting my first car, i only had a 1% chance :) and my first and only good rolls was my 3th car, t was starters luck i guess

i had a 93% chance of extorting a kindergarten to work, and i got caught! :o  :(  

depends on your level. as an associate, i have to wait more than two minutes to get out, so i usually just pay bail and then rob a jewelry store, which covers almost the entire cost. so, if you can offset the cost of bail with crimes and thefts, then it's worth it. :)
AND WHY THE FUCK DO I KEEP GETTING CAUGHT BUYING BOOZE? :angry:  

in the beginning i had a 9% chance of robbing a hot dog stand and i got away with $129

ok i read quick trough all these pages, and first advice: never bali urself out, i never do as it really doesn't pay off (only if ur about to do an oc and don't want your people to wait i'd consider bailing myself out)
and the bank thing, i never get my money out of the bank because then the 24 hours to get your interest start over, and the only purpose of putting your money in the bank is getting interest, the money isn't safer over there (and i think the reason you'll have to get all your money out first is that otherwise it would get too complicated to calculate your interest and when you would get it
another thing, all the associates out there should save up some money (sell all your cars that are worth over 5k except rolls and caddies that have under 25% damage) and do booze runs with as much booze as possible between baltimore and NY, that's the way to make money, in the beginning you'll get cought a lot but when you keep trying that'll happen less and less (also the number of booze you buy does not affect the chances of getting cought, so buy as much at once as you can carry, which differs per rank)

keep committing crimes, it gets a lot easier as you go up. move from kindergardeners to other crimes as soon as you can, the payoff is much better.
also, does buying a plane make it so you can travel more often? or is it just so you can go to italy?

you can also travel more often (altho the costs go up a little bit too), i got a DC and i can travel every half hour, a DC is the first thing you should save for, you'll earn the million back in no time

yes with a DC (best plane) you can travel once every 30 minutes, instead of the normal (i believe) 1h30mins

i think travelling as much as possible (with booze runs) is the best thing to do, as travelling gives your rank quite a boost (more then stealing or carjacking) also you can make over 1000 profit per unit, so it's quite a large money generator too, it gives me around 25k an hour...

just wondering...
the game doesn't seem to have a visible counter for booze runs.
then how can you be sure that you get caught less and less as you try it?

but is it good to have a high rank? i mean, people with high ranks tend to end up.....you know, dead. :(  

if you don't make any enemies it's very unlikely you'll end up dead, just because nobody will know you... and nobody's gonna spend a few millions on killing you just for nothing
high ranked people tend to end up dead as they are more likely to want what is from other people, like casino's and especially bulletfactories, and you'll need rank if you ever want to join a family, as they don't take people that are less then assassin

and gandalf i'm not sure if it happens less if your rank increases or with the tries you give it, but it gets less... i hardly ever get cought anymore

no not the most expensive... the most money you'll get with booze runs works like this:
buy whiskey in baltimore and sell it in NY, buy amaretto in NY and sell it in baltimore, and again...

dude, like everybody started there.
first, start doing crimes. you get caught a lot, but keep doing them and you'll get better over time. then, save up for a ticket to either new york or baltimore. if you went to new york, buy amaretto and sell it in baltimore. if you went to baltimore, buy whiskey and sell it in newyork. of course, keep doing crimes and jacking cars while your at it.
edit: i just noticed that opper basicly said the same thing. god im an idiot.

opper: just noticed in your quote(in the game).... stealing a car with 100% damage is NOT good, from the game mechanics... the car's completely wasted with a 100% damage. (they seem to give only 1k no matter how good the cars originally were)

and watch out, changes in the game system lets the feds confiscate cars randomly...

sell the audi, only keep caddi's and rolls' at low damage to do oc's the rest are only good for money (and if you ever want to join a family, save all the 1k cars, as you can get 12 bullets from them)

yo they added a new thing in the game where the feds can confiscate your cars, you can bribe them tho

crud.... after not finding much of bullets on sale, now i see the need to save these junks...

however, if somebody is going to be cheap and only put like 10,000 dollars on the line, then yeah, it's not worth it.

Even then, I think it's just easier, cheaper, and safer to keep the cars for OC or just to sell...
I mean, you want to risk losing the car? Even if you win, the car's going to get damaged anyway.
And during the seconds that you're wasting on car races, you could be attempting OC with a few friends... (which i'm going to try as soon as i get to assassin)

also i saw sum1 that repaired a bentley to 0% and another one got confiscated, once more i say sell ALL you cars (that include bentley's) except for low damage caddi's and rolls', caddis and rolls' are the most suitable for doing oc's
and yes car racing is just for fun and it isn't worth to race with expensive cars, if i race (only did it like 3 times) i race with a $1000 car and just for fun (and defenitely don't ship them...)

and the motorcycle nor the lyncoln can be confisquated... they're just protection, just like the suit

Keep a lot of junk cars (ones worth only 1k) around.

It probably raises the chance of the feds coming around and confiscating a car, but the upside is, they're only worth 1k, and it'll be less chance for them to confiscate the cars that are worth a lot more.

I have about 12 of them around aside from a Rolls Royce Phantom 21% and two Cadillac 85's at 0% and 34% each.  :D

I wish I could even come close to keeping up with you folks.  I'm still getting beat up as an associate.  I finally decided to get dedicated with it.  KOC has gotten to be pretty boring.

i'm making it a point to be in the quakenet channel when i'm playing barafranca...

and for the most part, i'm playing barafranca during nights (03:00-11:00 GMT), and on-off for 1-hr periods whenever i find free time inbetween classes

barafranca also has it's own chat-channel, if you really want to do an oc you can go there and there'll prolly be people who want to do one (especially if you have a car or don't mind being a weapons expert your chances are good i think)
ow als o the people who are assassin+, i might be able to get you into my family, so you can do OC's with my family members too (we also have a channel, but i think everybody speaks dutch there...)

might need an on-the-fly dutch translator then XD

People, let's keep in mind that when you're doing a high-risk operation like OC, USE YOUR BEST EQUIPMENT.
If 3 out of the 4 people put in $100k+ worth of equipment/etc, but the 4th person only $50k, your whole operation is screwed up.

Example: 2 Tommy Guns for the team of 4 got my team barely $380k.

Get my point?

My share didn't break even with the 100k I spent on C4's and the travel cost from NY to Vegas... :angry:

Another 12hrs til I go on an OC... sigh.  I'm making rules next time I join a team. :hmmm:

you don't need bodyguards, they'll only protect you if you have a casino or a bullet factory, which you won't get anytime soon...

and yes you should only do oc's if everybody buys the max, which means 4 tommyguns=$100k 100 bullets= ~750k, C4= 100k and a rolls or a caddi= ~90-100k

ow and gand if you got the witness statement of sjunkie could you pm it to me and to me only (well and to the don, but not anybody else in the family, we kinda suspect sum people can't be trusted...)
 

I'm a soldier now, I have my Tommy gun and an airplane, but my crime stats don't seem to be getting any better.  Is there something that I missed?  I spend more time in jail than I do out of jail.

*EDIT.  I have it stalled... I just need to put together on OC.  It is now fully repaired, and ready to be sacrificed to the gods.

After doing a thousand or two, you start to simply get "failed" results instead of going to jail...
And when the three high-paying regular crimes have less then 40%, I usually say to hell with it and rob a jewelry store.

and i'm really wondering about the carjacking %'s...
because i don't think the actual successrate is anywhere near 1/3...

hmmm lemme try to give you people a thing i use, it's quite useful, specially to know what booze to take if you're flying somewhere, or to calculate your oc money (don't forget to refresh it everytime you use it tho, for the booze prizes)

How do you make so much money?  I'm sitting at 500k and just not seeing how to make it happen.  

well, i just simply do the things that opper recommended in this thread:

keep the rolls royces and cadillacs that are less than 30% damage, but sell the rest(keep the ones that are worth less than 5-7k though, if you're in a family)
travel inbetween cities fast with a plane, and do booze runs by buying when they're low and selling when they're high (the whiskey and amaretto's inbetween NY and Baltimore)
do regular crime while you're waiting, the money and experience helps
do organized crime whenever you can with the best equipment, don't be cheap

Honestly, i don't find organized crimes worth it at all...
Nearly half the time, my share of the money barely came close to 100k... less than adequate to break even with the amount of money it costs.

Would help if people post up booze prices of other cities...

The booze prices do change INSIDE a city I've found. It's on some kind of cycle from what I can tell. And if you hang on to cars for too long they get stolen  :(

Also, the probability of success seems to change as well, even though your number of attempts go up. About the most I've been able to find out about that is that it's supposed to represent the police cracking down on different crimes at different times.

i put caddi's and rolls at 25% damage or less in storage(won't get confiscated), sell off everything else except the junk worth less than 6k each, because i get enough cars every day to stop worrying so much about cars confiscated....

and about booze:
as long as you buy/sell in the city(ies) recommended, you're alright... (mainly the whiskey/amaretto from NY/Baltimore)

opper, have any idea by how much each bodyguard helps you? (wondering exactly they do... i assume they'll take the initial few bullets instead of you, but...)

of what i've heard bodyguards only help if you own a casino or a bulletfactory, so they're quite useless <_<

ow btw i won't die anytime soon i guess, i killed my target and he didn't have enough backfire to kill me so now i gotta buy more bullets again before i'll die :)

and the new omerta (omerta 2.1) is coming soon as you can see in the news part so mebbe you want to start doing something with your money before you'll get a reset :)

The worth of these stuff are going down the drains, because with so many bullets going around (30k every few hours at each local mafia BF, aside from the individually owned...) anybody with the stuff becomes a target...

Nah, I'm not gonna buy anything in particular with my money, unless I see cheap bullets available.(which I don't because so many people get them before me)
 

let me correct you 30k bullets @ every city, every 15 minutes very low priced :)
this way i'll be able to get my 45k bullets tomorrow :) and kill a high ranked player (mebbe i'll kill you maaya :) j/k)

well... there's only 6861 players still alive on the game instead of the usual 20k, so that might have helped ;)

a few days before July 1, i checked the site progress, and it didn't even get near beta-testing...
so i'm doubing if it'll be ready any time soon yet...
 

they are/were ready... it just died a few hours after they started it, but they say that that's because of server problems and not the game/coding part :) should be up soonish
