Title: all about hardware Post by: diskreet on December 19, 2003, 05:51:48 PM I didn't see any hardware topics (with full pc specs) so I figured I'd prod you all to see what kind of PCs you've built and what parts/brands you recommend when building custom boxes. My home PC was my first fully custom built PC.. and now, I've built 3 more for my friends and 1 for the company I work for since then.
so... share your custom build specs or custom dream machine specs or any cool hardware components you've found. i know some of you geeks are hardware people too. show yourselves! Title: all about hardware Post by: Biteme360 on December 19, 2003, 06:41:48 PM I've always be a hardware geek, since i first became geeky thanks to Maximum PC.

[edit] I just got a Maxtor, I feel like I was ‘selling out’ because I mostly go with Western Digital. Does anyone have first hand experience with Maxtor? Note: I don't like 'he said, she said" sort of stuff <_< Title: all about hardware Post by: c4rc4s on December 24, 2003, 11:26:44 PM Not much experiences with maxtor here, I've always been a big WD person (as you can probably tell from my system). I have had friends who had good experiences with them, but I have also had friends call me for help and they always gave me a pain in the ass. Goodluck with it though ;)
Title: all about hardware Post by: smi256 on December 25, 2003, 08:18:49 AM I wanted the WD, but the maxtor was bigger and cheaper... and if it stops working, I made a deal with my Dad that I can say to him "told you so" LOL
Title: all about hardware Post by: FragMaster1972 on December 29, 2003, 08:18:57 AM maxtor is somewhat notorious for producing drives that go bad. Stick with WD or Seagate.
