Title: Concerning training...
Post by: Emperor-Me on September 25, 2003, 06:44:54 PM
Hey guys, a questions poped up to my head...

Does training is effective or just a waste of money?

Just that some time ago I wanted to check this and found out that by training an untraing soldier into attack specialist, the attack of my army increased by 2-3 points, and the defence decreased by 7-8 points, by which I understand that training is not just loss of money, but also loss of power...

What do you say guys?
Know the answer?

(P.S. are there any girls in the alliance too???)

In my opinion, training is a must if you have good equipment.

I believe the formula for your DA/SA is something (Unconfirmed) like [1+(0.25*S)]*[5(For trained troops)*(Total attack/defense of weapons, so 2 chainmails with 2 defense trained is 5*80)]

or if you have untrained troops, I think it is 4* the total attack/defense of your weapons

This is assuming you have enough defense trained for all your weps, or whatever.

All this + number of trained defense/attack troops with no weapons * 5 + number of untrained troops * 4

This got me to within 2000 points of my DA, which is... very high ^_^ so not bad.

S = number of siege upgrades

Edit: If someone wants to try that out on their DA, they could post on whether it's accurate or not... should be fairly accurate.

man oh man  ...  if you want to know who's a girl, I guess it's ok just to ask on a random thread (I don't like saying that)  depending on who it is, they (being the girls) may or may not want to be known.  I may just be over doing it, but it's the girls say in the matter if they want to be known and don't care about the situation...  (I not know, that statement just seemed a little too brash to me…)

BUT ON TOPIC!!!
Cuervo seems to know what he's doing, I've tried to make a calculator for finding out the point system, but I've put it on hold for a while, the whole "the trained men get the better weapons and so forth down the line” thing stopped me.
So Emperor-Me, did you have defense weapons then you trained your attack men?  That may have been a reason for the drop in points.  But I like this one better; if you had any defense siege stuff, that may have been the case because with a higher defense siege weapon rank, your defensemen do count more then when they’re just attack soldiers.

*cough* getting back on topic *cough* trained soldiers are 250% as effective, so technically if you train your soldiers 50/50 att/def, its like having 50% more men when attacking or defending, except they won't use the extra weaps that more men would.

This is how they worked on age1. Now that we are on age2 I have no clue how trained soldiers work. Recently, I trained some, but neither my SA nor my DA changed.

We should know which TGA members are girls so that we treat them with more respect.......always protect them from KoC enemies............

Thanks For the info guys (and girls  ;)  )

yeah, i just guessed that it was the same. Didn't actually look into it.

untrained mercenaries are good for siege fodder.
first to die, in ANY combat.
I don't think they even get the weapons before your general soldiers do... but i haven't gotten enough weapons to test that

Title: Concerning training...
Post by: Emperor-Me on September 26, 2003, 08:33:50 PM
Yep, I keep untrained mercenaries only to die first... they can be replaced easily and don't cost/worth much

Title: Concerning training...
Post by: Cuervo on September 26, 2003, 09:17:57 PM
Defense mercs and offense mercs are being used by the top people as fodder to keep their attack/defense army small and replaceable. I heard that Orc00 has about 10000 mercs.

Post by: absalut on September 26, 2003, 09:21:15 PM
so i think our gole here is to destroy orc00 right?

Title: Concerning training...
Post by: Cuervo on September 26, 2003, 09:52:58 PM
Well, personally I see no reason to destroy Orc. I think more people are mad at Lord Striker right now... Personally I just like to keep to myself, and just attack those who attack me.
