Title: The Photo Thread
Post by: SS on April 10, 2007, 10:10:06 PM
We haven't had one for a while, and I want to post my picture of a bumble bee which isn't quite good enough to go into my camera club's nature competition tomorrow, but I still like nonetheless.

I took the picture yesterday afternoon in a small village called Godmersham, between Ashford and Cantebury. The bee was happily bumbling about across the various flowers on the verge between a field of sheep and a quiet road leading to a posh looking private school (The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (http://www.dispensingoptics.co.uk/), Google is telling me), some houses and a church. Around about here (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=%4051.21859115137086,0.9561967849731445&ie=UTF8&z=10&ll=51.292841,0.819855&spn=0.505814,1.955566&om=1).

For those of you wanting to know these things, that's a crop of about 50% from the original taken at 300mm, f/5.6, 1/500 sec, ISO 200.

Bah, nobody else want to post photos?

Then you can have a picture of a goose.

And there's plenty more where that came from (http://blog.bpsite.net/photos/edinburgh/content/index_2.html)! :P

I've got quite a few... Louise thinks I ought to post them, so I probably will in a while.  In the meantime, here's a weird one for you to puzzle over.  No idea what the occasion was... it was on the 18th or 19th, over Ipswich.  Incredibly noisy they were too.

That's because it's a proper dSLR rather than a cheapy compact digicam.

(Having a 70-300mm telephoto lens also helps, even though it is a relative cheap one.)

Although there's only an hour in it, probably a timezone setting difference.

I have a very odd sleeping cycle, so days don't often have clear boundaries.  And considering that my life's being upended all over again (three different ways, too) I don't really think it's that important.  :miffed:

Hmmm, I probably haven't enabled BST. (And I can't be arsed to either.)

The Paris airshow began on the 18th, so that probably explains what they were for, but doesn't help with if it was the 17th or 18th when you saw them - could just as easily be travelling there a day early as on the actual day.

We tend to have bridges that go over them.

So what makes it one of the best places on Earth?
