I haven't seen it yet, but there are a lot of men, near naked men...

There's also a lot of naked women.

It's a very, very good film. If anyone ever asks how a phalanx works, reference the first battle scene.

Fight scenes are immense, great story, rather odd though.
Definatly worth a watch.

I recommend watching "The Last Stand of the 300" by the History Channel.  It got me really pumped to see the movie.

It's the story as told from the point of view of Dilios - he embellishes. (Dilios is actually a composite of two real people, as well - 2 Spartans survived Thermopylae, according to Herodotus).

Living with someone who does ancient history makes it a better film, I think...

Yes... well that movie makes me want to be a man because of all the badassery that encompasses Leonidas.  That movie made me want to kick some ass or something.

I mean Gorgo... she was somewhat the same as Leonidas... but I felt she talked more.  I'm all about the kicking of asses.

i saw a review snippet which just envolved a women saying it was a film full of men whod done nothing but go to the gym for 7 months. where in actual fact all those muscles and six packs are CGI, clever stuff i think

It would take a lot of work to CGI all those abs....

Plus Butler said that he worked out for 6 hours day.

saw it today. and given that my praises for films are few and far between and i didnt have much good to say about the last 2 films ive seen, i thought this was awesome

i loved the cinematography, even if the story was very filled in with fairy tale i though it was still capturing, thought the sound track added loads... awesome film.

and unders right, gives you some serious man points

It's kind of sad when you watch a film that's well known for showing a lot of male skin, and the sexiest thing in there is the lead bloke's wife.

I think it's because they're so almost naked and they make a lot of gay jokes that they're kind of gay.

In that time they were, actually; it was perfectly normal.  Further reading, for those so interested in such things. :P (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pederasty_in_Ancient_Greece)

mmm my friend proclaimed this after the film whihc kind of diminished its goodness, but from the way he described it it does make a lot of sense, wrong, but quite logical for the male dominent society.

and his wife was not hot

His wife is really his niece.
