TAIPEI: Security experts in Taiwan have dismissed a US Pentagon report which suggested the island bomb China's Three Gorges Dam to deter a possible invasion by its political rival.

While the government did not respond to the report, Taiwan's Deputy Defence Minister Tsai Ming-shian on Wednesday urged parliament to approve a budget to boost its military might, saying it is likely Taiwan will be attacked in the next two to four years.

In a recent report, the US Defense Department warned that China was developing military tools to prevent Taiwan from achieving independence, including preventing the United States from going to the island's aid should a war break out.

The report went so far as to suggest that since Taipei cannot match Beijing's ability in field offensive systems, it could instead attack China's urban population or high-value targets, such as the Three Gorges Dam, to deter a military coercion.

The war against terror? Or the war for terror?

Go Google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=pentagon+taiwan+three+gorges&btnG=Google+Search) it. "pentagon taiwan three gorges" The memo was dated in June.

Destruction of the Three Gorges Dam will instantly kill over 1 million persons, and hundreds of thousands more in the aftermath. It is the policy of the United States to demand an end to terrorism in the world, while promoting the act themselves.

Hah. You know the US were the ones that helped both Osama and Saddam to get into power, right?

This 'War on Terrorism' crap has never been anything more than a label to appease the US public while the military go round doing more-or-less whatever the fuck they like.

This War on Terrorism is meant only to allow the US to go around and tear apart any goverments in the world it doesn't like by publishing it's conspiracy theories and making false accusations as to goings on of the US Military's current target...but back to the topic...while the bombing of that damn would kill many innocent lives...what about the innocent lives of the people in Taiwan who will be affected just the same from a Chinese invasion? granted, whether or not that is actually going to happen is still in question...to be honest I don't think there's any easy way out of this conflict, sometimes people are just gonna not like eachother. whoa this is a long post.  LOL

Pffft. Everyone always mentions the oil. That's irrelevant - just a nice extra; they'd have attacked anyway.

Hitler wasn't stupid. Crazy, yeah, but not stupid.
He'd have known he couldn't spread himself so thinly as to try taking over more than Europe.
Not without time to strengthen forces, which wouldn't have happened - the British & Russians wouldn't let him get too strong.
Still, it would've been a lot longer battle if the US hadn't been brought into things.
Bleh, I don't really know what I'm talking about.

Um... wrong.  He was totally nuts at the end, did spread himself out too far, and didn't use the Jewish population in his territories as a fighting force (think of how many more soldiers he would have had if Hitler had conscripted the Jews).

And the oil prices are so high, fan, because the idiot Islamic extremists keep bombing the Iraqi pipelines, destroying the country even more.  <_<

Um....

Just suppose Hitler didn't take out his anger at all the Jews... another 6 million people for his war machine.  Though I suppose he wouldn't have been able to take power in the first place then, without the "Great Lie."

EDIT: I read the initial article for this topic, and it's actually interesting.  ;)

Reading is bad for you.

more like 11 million or something...6 million was how many he killed.  He could have solely blamed it on the gypsies though.

5 million others, 6 mil Jews.  ;)

There weren't enough gypsies around for him to take his anger out upon.

Really....I would go check my history notes, but that class was fucking dumb since she told us to turn in all our notes at the end of the course.  Therefore I have no reference.   I think there were 11 million Jews though, but Hitler was a failure and couldn't kill all of them.

First off, Hitler killed millions of people.  The exact total can never be known.  There were scores of people murdered and disposed of.  Hitler made the exact same mistake Napoleon made by trying to invade Russia in the Winter.  His supplies were too far behind the troops because of his rapid expansion, and the Russians were burning fields and villages so that nothing was left behind for the Germans.  With the Germans wearing summer uniforms, beign inadequately supplied, and just outmanned they never stood a chance.      After the end of World War II, The united States and Russia contolled Europe.  The United States pulled out but there were millions of surviving Jews flocking to the US.  Because of this they created Israel in 1954 as the "New Jewish Homeland".  That is why the Israeli Air Force, flies US planes and uses US weapons and training.  One litle tidbit of information is the fact that France sold a nuclear reactor and enrichment facility to Iraq.  This has been some time ago, but as soon as construction was complete Israel destroyed it.  Those Weapons of Mass destrcution would have existed had that not happened.  I feel the war on terror was simply a ruse for President Bush to finish the war that his father had started a decade before.  He was formulating a military strategy for going into Iraq before the September 11 bombing.  There is no oil agenda.  OPEC controls the world oil market, and there is no way that the US could ever take that oil.  Now war is always good for the economy, and I think that was one of the reasons.  The world was in a recession and there is nothing like a good war to boost the economy.

Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to make sure everyone knew what the facts were.

1- War is not always good for the economy (especially if you lose it), and the economy always goes into a short recession after a war.

2- There is an oil agenda- while the US occupies Iraq, they can control how much oil is exported onto the world market.

3- The current war did have a... dubious origin.  LOL

The "recession" after the war is truly not a recession.  They generally only last for a few weeks up to about 90 days.  That is very mild in today's fast paced economy.  I would never doubt the gfact that the US got into the war for the wrong reasons, but you are mistaken in the fact that the US controls oil output for the country while occupying.  Iraq is still a member of OPEC (organization of the petroleum exporting countries), and OPEC decides how much oil can enter the world market.  Even if Iraq tried to flood the market with oil, the rest of OPEC would just cut production.  I grew up in the Texas oil industry and know all about that stuff, plus my military experience lends to my knowledge of Iraqi policy.

I kinda meant that the U.S. controls the oil pipeline out of the country (and can fix it at will... heh), not necessarily each barrel of oil exported.  ;)

well, i think most of our oil comes from saudi arabia. which would explain why the bush family and the saudi's have always been so goody goody with each other. ;)

exactly, if you have someone that controls your economy it is best not to make enemies with them
