All accounts were set to "inactive" while we were updating the site today, don't worry about the message you get when you first log in.

Here are some of the changes we've made:

        * The amount of gold in a player's treasury is not public, you must spy to find this out.
        * Soldiers retreat automatically if attacking an army much stronger, this should reduce the effectiveness of "feeler" accounts.
        * 32-bit rollover problem fixed.
        * Weapon damage is more precise.
        * Other, smaller miscellaneous changes.

We'll continue to make more changes over the next few days.

What they mean to say is, "We will continue to crash the game in the next few days. Please do not complain: this is a crash-test period. We cannot be held accountable if our fuckups screws your account. Do not complain if our database suddenly gives Striker $50 trillion. This is only a screw-up time."

Bah, spying to see gold is ridiculously stupid though.

I agree.  Even in Age 1 you could see how much gold someone else had.

We have been making changes to spying, sabotoge (which isn't implemented yet), and Covert Action rankings. Eventually we will work to remove any "spy immunity" players might have. Spies are used for Recon and Sabotoge, sentries are used to defend against such actions. In this way any player can have a chance to spy on any other player. Additionally, we've added tools for both spies and sentries to use to make them more effective.

We've completed our change of wealth disclosure. You can now view the treasuries of players that have far inferior security forces to your spy forces.
in other words, if you can see their treasury, then you can also most likely sabotauge them.

LordStriker has been sabotaged to death.... he has 0 dragonskins left... and who knows how many Excaliburs were sab'd.

Back up again...

"Sabotaging does not cost attack turns."

Idiots. ...I'm surprised at myself for expecting that they might use their brains!

So...are there any "best strategies" for the tools and wether to just get stuff for sabotage or a mix between sab and sentry?

Title: koc news
Post by: SS on July 10, 2004, 02:27:56 AM
Well if you want to attack people, you need enough spies to see if they've got a decent level of gold.
And if you want to not be sabotaged, you need a lot of sentries.

Well, just a heads up...better up your sentry level like crazy or risk total loss of your weapons/defense. There are alot of people that wouldnt mind sabotaging anyone that attacks them. So, just be aware of that since losing all your weapons would not exactly be fun.  I think im safe atleast  :paranoid:

looks like my sentry rating wasn't even close to being enough.  now i'm afraid to attack anyone.  not that i ever did before.   :D

Wheeee... I'm ranked like 2,000 (because of my 2,323,200 sentry rating).  How long will that last for?  LOL

BTW- can you sab spy and sentry items?

I jsut said "screw sabbing- I'll just defend myself."  Besides,  the admins might put up a sabbing limiter, and then what do you do with all those spies?   :)

Title: koc news

lots more changes to koc.  new prices/weapons and the ability to mark people as allies/friend/enemy/etc..  also, if you bought guard dogs or grappling hooks for 10,000 gold, your boat just came in.  you can sell them now for 75,000!!!  that's a 650% increase!

hmmmmm....for once, I like the changes they've made. I'm impressed.

Quote
Today's changes:

    * E-mail notifications for preferences changes such as changed e-mail, password, delete account, etc.
    * Accounts no longer go inactive when changing e-mail address (currently inactive accounts remain inactive, however).
    * Vacation mode - account can be suspended for a period between one and four weeks.
    * New recruits now show up instantly instead of being delayed by five minutes.
    * Covert mission formulas have been adjusted.
    * Spies and sentries can be killed if a player fails to fend off a normal (not covert) attack.
    * You may launch 10 covert operations on an enemy per day (previous limit was 5).
    * The resale value of spy tools has been reduced significantly (this is to discourage "banking" money in the form of spy tools).
    * An ingame buddy list now lets you keep track of friends, enemies and alliance members, and even block/ignore in-game messages from certain players.
    * Buddy list icons on attack/ranking pages show buddy statuses at a glance.
    * Players can choose to ditch their current commander, or choose a new commander. Only one commander change per age is allowed.
    * New weapons were added and weapon/tool costs were adjusted.

not sure I like the one about spies/sentries being killed from normal attacks though...

The attack limit is five, why not have the covert limit as five also.

But yeah, otherwise good changes.
