Yeah i suppose i did just vanish of the face of the planet. Till one day (today) when a minion waltzed into a game i happened to be playing and told me you thought i was dead.

Various reasons why i failed to return.

1. Immense amount of final year uni work.

2. Loss of internet over christmas period.

3. It didnt seem to be getting anywhere. So i put in the deep dark recesses of my mind along with knowledge of the matrix sequels, and the fact that santa doesnt exist. Thus forgotten cmpletely when i returned in January to uni.
(After the second time the project was jump started in december, i continued to idle in IRC, without bumping into a living soul for a week)

4. Seemed like the forum pass had changed.

5. No-one came looking for me. (Not even a pm on these boards that would have auto e-mailed me)

Anyway, hows the project going?

(Wonders how many months it will take for someone to notice this post)

Oh, umm... the PM functionality broke! honest! I just fixed it now! :paranoid:

Although I'm sure I PMed everyone the new password, though perhaps I just did it in the IRC meeting(s) we had, which you were idling, so you probably missed it among the flood of crap. :miffed:

Anyhow, the project is going much better now than it was before the holidays. Check out the forum for specifics.

Post by: Guest:SS on December 06, 2004, 02:25:26 PM
I have no idea.

I would like to think that (despite me having restricted Internet access) everyone is still getting on with what they can, and when I eventually get back online sometime next year, it will all be ready and waiting for me to spend a week or two completing things.
But chances are everyone is being lazy and things haven't progressed very much since I last logged in. :|

I am actually working on a little something to give Fate a hefty kick in the right direction.  Don't assume that my lack of posting is a lack of activity - I do visit the place every month or so, but I rarely if ever have time to post.

Really?  Activity?  What's that?  :P

And you think you're joking.

Is there any reason SS is only posting as a guest?  I sent him an essay some time ago, and I need a reply fairly soon...

Title: Fate of Nations
Post by: Lord Lanair on January 09, 2005, 04:43:53 AM
Um... I think it's because he doesn't have constant access to a computer with internet connection.  But most of the guest posts are actually from fire.  ;)

Not quite as good as that with his hand lady.

Title: Fate of Nations
Post by: Guest:SS on January 10, 2005, 02:11:46 PM
Reasons for posting as guest:
1) This is a semi-public computer, and I originally didn't know if I could trust the people here. (I still don't know, but I think I can.)
2) Not wanting to mark-as-read all the discussions which I didn't have time to read at work but could read as soon as I got Internet access at home - except that isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

I'm thinking that I might as well just login properly anyway, and just get people to bug me if I don't read/reply in a thread I'm supposed to.
But I'm hungry at the moment, so I'm going to go get some food.

Once you click 'logout', your session id can't be used to access anything, surely?  Even if they were bothered enough to root through the history & cache files.  And why would they even be trying to?

I need a reply soonish - there's only so much that can be done on formulae.

Title: Fate of Nations
Post by: Guest:SS on January 11, 2005, 02:09:14 PM
I was more thinking key-loggers and/or just calling me away from the machine. But it's all just unfounded paranoia really. :paranoid:

Anyhow, I'll log in tonight after work and have a look at your stuff.

Title: Fate of Nations
Post by: Arkanor on January 13, 2005, 04:32:40 AM
I dunno - regedit can be used to pull stuff off if it's stored, can't it?  That's how I stole liberated a couple CD keys from a friend.

Title: Fate of Nations
Post by: SS on January 13, 2005, 07:06:32 PM
Nah, CD keys are an entirely different issue to session codes.

Session codes can only be stored in the registry of the web server if it's a Windows server and if the software is designed that way.
But www.bpsite.co.uk is a unix server, and Invision isn't designed that way.

And even if you could get the session code, it is only useful whilst the person is logged in, and next time you login you get a different code.

Well, I for one do intend to continue on it.  Although as I'm changing jobs at the moment, plus dancing around no less than three contracts, spare time is rather scarce.

And Fyrefryst is still waiting, so if anyone actually _wants_ to write a history, make their units, or just about everything else you should be doing, you are more than able to you know.
