As Frag said, you need to use proxies. I'm fairly sure you can't actually choose your own IP.

Any particular reason why? :P

Yeah, most ISPs will change your IP on a relatively frequent basis.
If you're on a broadband connection try disconnecting, waiting a few minutes, then re-connecting.

yeah. i use roadrunner, and i reset it by unscrewing the cable, and disconnecting the power. i leave it connected to the computer, cause that doesnt make much of a difference i dont think.

Eh? Your IP is given by the server you connect to the Internet through.
If you reconnect to your ISP then most likely they will assign you a different IP address.
(Unless you've signed up to a service which gives you a fixed one.)

The local network one? Changing that wont help unless you're directly connected to the same network as the MUD and the hub/router supports you changing it.
Still:
Click Start
Select Settings>Network Connections>Local Area Connection
Click Properties
Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"
Click Properties

Unless you're talking about your MAC address, which I'm fairly sure is hard-coded into the network card.

well then, heres what you do:
1. find somebody with a computer just like yours.
2. steal it.
