Orson Scott Card is the main writer so it'll hopefully stick to the book

I love that book but if they mess up the movie in anyway...they're asking for something *shakes fist*

Never read the book. What's it about/like?

a brief summary is that its about this kid(Ender) in a futuristic society who is ostracized(because he's the Third Child and there are quotas on those) but is selected for special military training called Battleschool and how he is manipulated into defeating these aliens called "buggers"

Ah, sounds like it could make a good movie if the right person does it.

there's also 2 other books which deal with him(but i never read those) and 3 books on his protege Bean.

and the author is working on it too so it sounds good

I've read Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon.  That first one took me 2 days (during the summer) that second one took me about 2 and a half months (for English class).  I actually had to read Ender's Game for summer work for 9th grade English compared to the other 2 books it was my favorite (At Risk was ok but like a chick book, and Mythology *dies*).

Anyway I haven't gotten around to reading the other books in the series; I'm not sure if I should b/c my friend told me that they weren't as good as the first b/c they don't really continue from where Ender left off or something...it's more like waaay in the future.

I hate it when they make movies of books and totally screw it up.  I like Harry Potter books but the movies stink like crap.

I've seen Ender's Game in the book store, never touched it. The only time I tought about it was when I heard Michael Gross did the audio book of it.

You should, it tuned me into looking at the genre.

But the movie wont be able to to the battle rooms effectivally. So, No way.

I couldn't even do those scenes in my head.  It was hard to imagine how it would be really set up even though they described it.

i always just thought of it as a giant cube with other smaller cubes to use as cover

I dunno it's still hard to imagine the details of the battle rooms.  What I really want to see is the part where:

Yea evil but that was the part I was talking about but if you go back and read I think he does that.  Ender wasn't freaky and neither was Peter. . .what's wrong w/ world domination and kicking people in the balls?

I voted no. I read the book freshman year and it left me thinking. The science fiction theme is only there to accomodate the message it's trying to send.

As for the movie, it's probably gonna be a pure science fiction movie, and not one like the book. The message the book is trying to stress is the manipulation that the teachers used to change the kids, to literally use them. Card's other books, like the ones mentioned, like Xenocide and Speaker of (for?) the Dead, all take place in a science-fiction setting, but only because it fits the way he's trying to write the book. I think making a movie is a bad idea, becuase it's very likely the movie will lose the conveyed message in the book and just turn it into any other sci-fi film. Dunno, it'd be better to criticize than anticipate, IMO.

ns33 you have some twisted views on the movie... you seem to be screaming the pinkfloyd meaning heh.

no i am not telling you guys what I think the book is about because the only way to be fore sure is to ask the writer and none of us know him. So bonzai...
