Title: New Races?
Post by: Zathman on May 12, 2004, 06:28:31 PM
Post what race you may like to see in the future, and post what kind of benefit using them would have.

I'd go for Gnomes myself (+25% Technology {Cheaper Upgrades/Better Weapons})

Other, Goblins. 20% attack and 10% spy bonus.

Chose "undead" out of fun...
25% of units you kill can be turned into skeletons and added to your army
-25% attack and defense. (hey, they're skeletons without the meat to protect them like the living, they don't have the muscles either, so they get the penalties)

and personally, i don't see mages as a separate race... anyone in any race could become one as long as they are smart enough and willing enough... (which rules out orcs and most dwarves anyway...)

Maaya you are so analytical.  I would like to see gnomes.  Not your standard variety garden gnome, but the little miniature gnomes.  Defense would be tough, because they are hard to hit.  They also move really fast, kinda like a leprechaun.  Offense would have to suffer though, because they are so tiny.  hmmm... just a thought.

trolls, with a bonus to attack? probably weaker buildings/ encampment thingys cuz they are made out of wood from the forest

I picked other but now I'm not so sure that I should have b/c then if there were mages the admins would have to add a new element to the game, and that would but much kewler...

It was a tough choice between trolls and undead, but Gand's idea won me over.  ^_^

Really, considering how KoC was based on LoTR; I keep true to that. Under that logic, Trolls or Goblins, or some other race aligned with that would work best. Also, usually Mage would be considered a class, not a race. Now, if they made it so you could pick mage orientated things or warrior orientated things despite what race you picked... :P

Oooooooooo..... interesting  :oooh:

Though they might be too much like Elves... maybe.

Ents are the tree things, so how could they be like Elves?

Title: New Races?
Post by: GandalfTheOld on May 15, 2004, 02:10:58 AM
Ent stats:
+15% Atk (hey, sharp branches ARE deadly.)
+15% Def (hard bark) BUT...
-25% penalty to Def ONLY if opponent uses axes (get chopped up too easily)

Hmmm... how about they have negative spying instead... for obvious reasons;  how can an Ent be stealthy, except in a forest!  LOL

It just stands still and acts like a tree, of course.

I chose Undead, as they're in almost all RPG games so why not KoC.  Although SS has a point with the goblin idea.

Blah, why does no-one agree with goblins?

If KoC is a LotR themed game (as it claims) then the little buggers would be the most sensible race - ents are generally pacifists, trolls are solitary, gnomes are.... gnomes, and undead are a whole new class too, would they be skeletons, ghosts, zombies, or what?
Run through the LotR story in your head, and list the major races - hobbits, humans, elves, dwarves, GOBLINS, more elves, orcs, ents, more humans, lots of orcs and humans and elves, then more hobbits.
So, um. Hobbits too. maybe with a 25% spy bonus, a +10% defense, and a -10% attack? And Goblins with their 20% attack and 10% spying.

i still like trolls... tehy did come up on ur list SS, and they are a lot differnet then orcs, goblins arent

Oh yeah ;) watch those hobbits defend against outside races they've never seen before with forks, rakes, and shovels :P That sure is worthy of +10% defense ;) Hobbits (+20% spying, -5% attack, -5% defense)

Hobbits = small, easily run away. :P

Plus these wouldn't be regular Hobbits. These would be War Hobbits! :oooh:

at the rate were going these hobbits are going to  be like +50% attack, defend and steatlh.

uber war hobbits...

They have Hobbit Cheese of the Gods.  LOL

Why would each race receive a negative bonus in this new idea, though?  :miffed:

Title: New Races?
Post by: SS on May 15, 2004, 11:03:04 PM
Because their positive ones are greater than the current bonuses.

Say like a negative defense bonus for all out attack races. All attack shouldnt care about defense bonus. It will help keep whatever race to STAY all attack/defense rather than change tactics halfway into the game.   ;)

I say they should stick to the races in LOTR and Hobbits would be cool.

Yeah, you know what they say - old hobbits die hard!  :D

Title: New Races?
Post by: Lord Lanair on May 18, 2004, 04:15:23 AM

Which Warcraft?  I certainly don't see Night Elves and the Undead running around...

KOC is totally LoTR.  Back in Age0 they even had the faces of the characters for each race instead of the shields they have now, i think they took them off for some copyright reasons, but anyway that more than proves that it is set around LoTR.  Hobbits all the way!  Perhaps the magic trees aswell.

I think different units to just soldiers, mercs and spies would work aswell.  Like the flying creature the orcs have (attack is more developed, as opposed to just straight ground attack), and stronger more experienced humans (able to attack harder), faster elfs (able to shoot bow faster), intellegent dwarves (able to perform better higher damage moves), older larger trees (able to take more damage and kill more enemies), etc...  Add or change as you wish.

You know not of what you speak.

There is an immense difference between the Night Elves and ordinary elves - they aren't just elves that choose to come out at night!  I could give you a complete history of the races if you like.

HAH!  The admins have finally fixed it - I can't get directory listings of their testing server anymore.  Still, I can assure you that the image still exists on their server, along with a snap of one of the admins having a booze-up with coke (coca-cola, you twit).  And I don't have it cached anymore to boot.  SS might; I sent him a link at one point.  Blackmail 'em!

i picked mages, and i would give them a bonus so that they have 25% less casualties and the ennemy 25% more
