Title: Standardized Testing
Post by: underruler on April 16, 2004, 03:04:58 AM
So over the next 2 weeks our school gets to take the CAT6 every Tuesday and Thursday.  The only thing good about that is that I get out on 12:30 on those days, but I do have to go to practice.  We already did that stupid lame ass goal setting.  I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't do better even though I got Advanced in all categories that I tested in.  I think Kevin only got better in math b/c he had Geo. and I had Alg. II, but w/e.  Anyway I just wanted to say that this is a pain in the butt.  The only thing worse is the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam).

Yes...I could have taken that in 7th grade, but they choose to give it to us in 10th b/c other people are so dumb.

which one? the CAT6 or the CAHSEE?

Post by: underruler on April 16, 2004, 03:36:58 AM
Well both of them but I was talking about the CAHSEE.  If everyone could get out of high school knowing the subject matter on that test I fear for all.

I know, but that sucks b/c then people label you as smart and then they ask you tons of questions just b/c of that label.  I don't want to deal w/ them b/c all of the questions are moronic b/c they come from morons.

there is AP for some courses, but not chem :(

Title: Standardized Testing
Post by: underruler on April 16, 2004, 05:58:05 AM
Regular chem is hecka easy, but then when you get to AP it's too much memorization.  I have like 4 pages of ions, oxidizing/reducing agents, solubility rules, and reactions to memorize.

We have a reference thing...but the stuff that is on it doesn't really cover it all.

Post by: evilknight on April 17, 2004, 01:20:36 AM
you complain too much.
we have tests like that...
EVERY FUCKING YEAR!!!
north carolina is filled with sadistic bitches who thought it would be funny to give us about 10,000 tests at the end of the year on stuff that we learned two years ago (that means we've forgotten)

Title: Standardized Testing
Post by: Uber Peasant on April 17, 2004, 01:37:14 AM
ouch....

i remember in like 4th grade we had things like the terranova and ugh the stupid ELAs that never want to stop appering, its like every other year we take them.

so many $%*@)#^@ english tests and there is too much writing

Title: Standardized Testing
Post by: evilknight on April 17, 2004, 01:48:55 AM
*sigh* i have to take a damn writing test every year to. <_<
and also, i recently found out that the government is adding an essay portion to the SAT (basically the SAT decides wether or not I go to a decent college, just for those who dont know)

Title: Standardized Testing
Post by: underruler on April 17, 2004, 01:51:38 AM
I hate writing tests.  Especially timed essays; I'm not as dumb as other people in English, but it is quite a bit more challenging than the other shiz.

Post by: Saladin on April 17, 2004, 02:04:40 AM
we only have the Regents in NY

Title: Standardized Testing
Post by: evilknight on April 17, 2004, 02:22:22 AM
yeah, i know.
actually, i think like north carolina and only a few other states actually do these end of course tests.
most states don't bother, cause you know, they're sane. ;)

Post by: Uber Peasant on April 17, 2004, 02:52:53 AM
someone in thier right mind should run the education system, and make these tests better. like a student. but then that wouldnt work, cause they would do something stupid like allow teachers to be beaten up. some SMART sho0uld run education.

essay on SAT is so darn stupid....

North Carolina is also where some of our tests are graded.  LOL
